On 16 September 2009, Pakistan’s Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) announced the arrest of Taliban commander Sher Mohammad Qasab. The arrest was made in Swat, where Pakistani security forces have been engaging in battle since May 2009 alongside an alliance of Islamic insurgent groups labeled the Swat Taliban. The alliance primarily involves the Pakistani umbrella insurgent group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM).
