Thank Rosenberg, for he is responsible for giving you a special lift on Monday morning as you prepare for another long workweek.  Do cheer up!  Remember you always have your doughnuts and coffee to look forward too at Dunkin’ Donuts.  Thank Rosenberg, for he founded Dunkin’ Donuts, a doughnut and coffee shop that is famous worldwide.  One of the reasons that Dunkin’ Donuts is very popular is that it has a wide variety of doughnuts and coffee suitable for any palate.  Ever since 1948, Dunkin’ Donuts has been serving customers delectable doughnuts, and the family business still continues today.

William Rosenberg (June 10, 1916-September 22, 2021) started his business, “Open Kettle” in 1948.  Eventually, Rosenberg changed the name of Open Kettle to “Dunkin’ Donuts” in 1950.  Dunkin’ Donuts has the distinction of being one of the biggest coffee shops in the world.  The current net worth of Dunkin’ Donuts is $8 billion.

Growing up, Rosenberg learned how to run a business at an early age.  Since his hard working family lost their grocery store during the Great Depression, Rosenberg had to leave school to help support his family.  He was successful in a medley of jobs and was already learning about the food industry.  At seventeen, he began working at Simco, which was a company that distributed ice cream from refrigerated trucks.  At age 21, he was supervising Simco and even managing 40 to 100 trucks.

All of his business experience led him to start his first company, “Industrial Luncheon Services,” which was a business that delivered meals and coffee break snacks to factory workers.  Industrial Luncheon Services quickly flourished, for the demand was so great that he had 200 catering trucks, 25-plant outlets and a vending operation.

When Rosenberg analyzed his business statistics for Industrial Luncheon Services, he noticed that 40 percent of his profit came from coffee and doughnuts.  Due to his fast selling coffee and doughnuts, he began his business, the “Open Kettle,” which was later renamed “Dunkin’ Donuts.”. While other companies had a limited variety of doughnuts, Rosenberg offered 52 types of doughnuts beating his competitors.

Today Dunkin’ Donuts is still famous for it’s wide selection of doughnuts.  They have doughnuts for holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Easter and July 4th.  Dunkin’ Donuts is always coming up with new doughnut flavors, which may enhance the taste for coffee lovers.

Since coffee and doughnuts are the perfect combination, thank Rosenberg by celebrating National Doughnut Day, at Dunkin’ Donuts, this Friday.  When you buy any drink at Dunkin’ Donuts, you will get a free doughnut.  After such a hard workweek, you do deserve the treat.
