HOUSTON: Former President George H.W. Bush, who led America through the conclusion of the Cold War and a shift of American relations with the Middle East, passed away on Friday at the age of 94. His office confirmed his passing in a statement his son, former President George W. Bush, as saying.
“George H.W. Bush was a man of highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for”
George H.W. Bush left behind a legacy of greatness.
President Bush was elected as Ronald Reagan’s vice president in 1980 after serving as CIA director and as the United Nations ambassador. Foreign policy defined his presidency. During his administration, the Berlin Wall fell, the U.S. restarted relations with the Soviet bloc, and responded to the threat of Saddam Hussein with Operation Desert Storm.
Bush ended up losing his reelection in 1992, and the opportunity to expand his national legacy. President George H.W. Bush has spent 20 years close to the White House, four years as the 41st president of the United States, eight as President Ronald Reagan’s vice president, eight years while his son George W. Bush was president.

George H.W. Bush was a popular moderate and struggled with retail campaigning. While he may not be the face of the modern Republican Party, he endorsed Mitt Romney in 2012. Bush also ended up endorsed his second-oldest son Jeb Bush’s campaign, which failed to capture the White House for a third Bush presidency.
#41’s proudest moment
George H.W. Bush previously spoke with Parade magazine in 2012 and said that his proudest political accomplishment was the liberation of Kuwait. After leaving the presidency, Bush grew his friendship with former President Bill Clinton, while helping bring in aid for relief from the 2004 Asian tsunami and Hurricane Katrina. George H.W. Bush celebrated his 75th birthday, by going skydiving, and every five years. His last jump was in June 2014, when he celebrated his 90th birthday.
Over the years, Bush’s health has been declining. Bush suffered from vascular Parkinsonism, which caused him to not be able to move his legs. He continued to make public appearances, only now in a wheelchair.
Bush spoke to his granddaughter Jenna Bush on Today saying “Aging is all right,” “Better than the alternative, not being here.”
