Both RuneScape 3 and its older version Old School RuneScape, which were popular a decade ago, now have more bots than players. Jagex, the company that runs RuneScape, appears to condone the practice because it receives membership fees from these accounts.
It’s a far cry from Jagex’s attitude toward bots in the past. Back in the 2000s, Jagex aggressively targeted bots in order to ensure a fair gaming experience. Now, the company has all but given up, using measures that affect real players without addressing the problem.
