Several attendees attended the red carpet event and celebration in Chicago, representing many music categories, all coming together for one special night before the bigger Grammy celebration in Los Angeles.

Notable rememberances from the night were:

  • Red Carpet Nominees Reception,
  • A very big Grammy,
  • Wonderful food and drinks, including pink champagne,
  • A DJ spinning amazing music, and
  • A wonderful, talented crowd.

Meeting with some of the nominees reminds one of all the range of musical talent present and celebrated by the Grammy’s.  From gospel celebrities like Donald Lawrence and Mark Hubbard, to Classical Musicians such as Marta Aznavoorian, and former nominees like singer Evin Martin, the group was diverse.  As Sarah Jensen, from The Recording Academy Chicago Chapter mentioned, a lot of Midwest artists are nominated and this points to how much of this work is being done right here in the Midwest.  The Recording Academy is all about breaking barriers, and opening up avenues for artists to come into their best, and has many programs to assist artists and aspiring artists.  Not only does it focus on celebrating top talent, but also has become one of the most prolific organizations around arts advocacy and outreach.  While the Grammy’s celebration may be the most known, there is much more behind its mission “to positively impact the lives of musicians, industry members and our society at large”.

What a wonderful night celebrating diverse and exemplary artists in the Midwest.  You can tune into the Grammy Awards and see all the winners on Sunday, Feb 12, 2017.
