Do you love to eat popcorn?  Boy you are sure lucky since Sunday January 19th is National Popcorn Day.  Popcorn lovers, all across America, will eat their favorite snack.  There are so any varieties of popcorn to choose from such as cheese flavored popcorn, caramel flavored popcorn and double buttered popcorn among any others.  America’s favorite brand of popcorn is Orville Redenbacher’s.                                                                                                                                                    

Throughout history, people have enjoyed eating popcorn.  According to archaeologists, people knew about popcorn for thousands of years.  Around 3600 BC, remnants of popcorn were discovered in Mexico.  In the 1890’s, Charles Cretors invention of the popcorn maker made popcorn even tastier than it was before.  After Cretors invention, there were street carts with powered popcorn makers.  People bought that fresh popcorn, and it made their day brighter                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Do you know who was responsible for bringing popcorn to movie theaters?  Glen W. Dickson put the first popcorn maker in the lobbies of movie theaters.  At first theater workers were not too happy about having popcorn served in movie theaters.  They actually thought that people would not be so interested in the movie when they ate popcorn.  As it turns out, they were wrong.  Popcorn helped bring more business to movie theaters. Popcorn is a very popular snack in the United States.  Midwestern US is known as the “Popcorn Capital of the World.”  Nebraska, Indiana and Texas grow the corn that is used to make the popcorn.  The official state snack of Illinois is popcorn.                                                                                                                          

Popcorn lovers, across the US, will celebrate National Popcorn Day by eating their favorite type of popcorn.  Those popcorn lovers who have a sweet tooth and a love of nuts may decide to eat Cracker Jack.  Others will prefer to indulge in the traditional popcorn with butter.  No matter what your favorite type of popcorn is, perhaps the best way to enjoy National Popcorn Day is to eat your bag of popcorn at the movie theater.  If you decide to stay at home you can eat your bag of popcorn while you watch a movie or a television program.  Since National Popcorn Day falls on Sunday, you can certainly sit back relax and enjoy the show with popcorn            .
