According to a poll conducted by WalletHub, out of 100 American cities, Newark was ranked 98 as a place to spend Valentine’s Day. Since there are so many wonderful places in Newark to have a perfect date, I do not agree with this low rank for Newark.
The Ironbound section of Newark is famous for all of its wonderful eateries. At the Iberian Peninsula restaurant, you can feast on Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. Paella, a traditional Spanish dish that consists of either meat or seafood is an all-time favorite. You can also choose to have your dish with the finest Spanish wines such as Sangria among many others. For the seafood lover, Spain is the ideal restaurant to eat specialties such as shrimp, oysters, clams, scallops and lobster.
In addition to wonderful restaurants, the Ironbound area also has a wide array of jewelry stores. You can buy gold jewelry from Portugal and Spain in 14 karat, 18 karat and even in 22 karat gold. They have unique jewelry that you will not find anywhere else.
Are you looking for a romantic spot to spend Valentine’s Day? You should visit the John Ballantine House that is a part of the Newark Museum. With all of its Victorian decor, it is the ideal home symbolic of Valentine’s Day during Victorian times. This was a time when people actually took the time to make homemade Valentine Day cards and other handmade gifts. As you view the priceless rooms in this mansion, you will also learn about the Ballantine family.
Like a smaller version of New York City, Newark comes alive at night. With the backdrop of the night sky, the buildings light up Broad Street, Newark’s financial district, eventually leading to the Prudential Center. In this state of the art center, you can attend concerts and watch games. The New Jersey Devils have played many games at the Prudential Center.
The magic of Broadway is certainly in Newark. When you enter the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, you will see classic and modern plays. Enjoy the finest dance performances and musicals. They also have special shows for Black History Month. Throughout the entire year, they have plays for every holiday.
With its many attractions, you will surely have an exciting Valentine’s Day in Newark. Consider spending this romantic holiday in New Jersey’s largest city, and it will be a memorable day.
